Examination Results

Our students did extremely well in all the recent exams and we are very proud of them.

Summer 2008

Students are celebrating their success at Highbury Grove School following some outstanding results at GCSE.  32 students achieved more than double the national standard with 10 or more higher grade passes including Maths and English.

Overall the results are the best ever.  The government floor target of 30% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C including Maths and English has been exceeded and 60% achieved 5 or more higher grade passes.

The student with the most higher level passes was Volkan Karaboyun with 17.  Courage Ntumy, Annmarie McGann and Peter Soi achieved 26 As and A* grades between them.

Associate Headteacher Henry Jones said “The students deserve their success. They have been a fantastic year group. Many have overcome enormous odds to achieve these results.  I am so proud of them all”  He went on to thank all the staff for their dedication and commitment to ensuring students achieve the best possible outcomes.

Students will now be confirming their place on A Level courses at the school sixth form, a partner in the Islington consortium, before they go and celebrate!  The results continue the improving trend for Highbury Grove.  When Ofsted visited in early 2007 they judged the school to be a ‘good school’.

Summer 2007

The GCSE results have again improved significantly and the number of students gaining 5 x A* - C has risen from 37 to 50%. The students who achieved well were those who have worked consistently hard and made the extra effort. 56% of girls achieved 5 or more higher grade passes.

Tatiana Antonio achieved 15 higher grade passes and a full A level in Portuguese. 31 students achieved more than 10 higher grade passes with at least 1 A/A* grade. Demetra Kasalova and Cem Yaslak achieved 18 As between them with 6 A*s.

Achieving higher grades enables the students to have a wider choice of education at Post 16 and many have now enrolled for the sixth form.

At post 16 result were also extremely pleasing and an improvement on the previous year. Art students achieved 43% at grade A and 81% at grade B. The A-C pass rate was 100%.

All the students who applied to University have been accepted. Of particular note were the following students:
Iva Kazalova achieved 3 As and 1 B in Law, Sociology, History and English Literature. She will take up a place at Kings College
