Headteachers of the Future

Highbury Grove has been selected to be a host placement school for the following national programmes:

Trainee Head Scheme. This scheme places experienced deputy heads in schools where there is good practice which is leading to high results. The trainee gets the opportunity to experience as many aspects of the head’s role as possible during the school year. Our trainee is Ms Fox. She previously worked in Hammersmith and Fulham. In addition to the school placement trainees attend monthly sessions at the National College of School Leadership in Nottingham

Future Leaders. This is a new programme for 2006 - 2007 and has been designed to fast track young leaders as well as encourage teachers who have left the profession to return in a leadership capacity. In part this programme is a response to a perceived problem regarding Headteacher recruitment. Our Future leader is Ms Shariff who previously worked in Tower Hamlets.

It is very encouraging that the school was selected for both these programmes and reflects our commitment to constantly improve ourselves through our training and development programme. Both trainees have made an excellent start this term.
